Record-Breaking Poker Event: WSOP Announces Unprecedented $60 Million Tournament Prize Guarantee, Setting New Industry Standard
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise, the winter equivalent of the annual summer World Series of Poker festival, is gearing up for another exciting event in 2025. The WSOP Paradise poker festival, taking place from December 4-18, 2025 at the Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas, has announced a record-breaking $60 million guarantee for the Super Main Event.
This is a significant increase from last year's event, which had a $50 million guarantee and required approximately 2000 entrants to avoid an overlay. The Super Main Event, with a buy-in of $25,000, will need at least 2400 entrants in 2025 to meet the $60 million guarantee and avoid an overlay.
In addition to the Super Main Event, WSOP Paradise has partnered with GGPoker and Triton Poker to host a number of high-stakes events. Triton Poker will host Triton Main events for no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha, each with a buy-in of $100,000. The Triton Invitational will also return, with a $250,000 buy-in and an evenly split field between invited figures from business and entertainment, and poker professionals.
Last year's Super Main Event was won by China's Yinan Zhou, who received a prize of $6 million. In 2023, Germany's Stanislav Zegal won the Main Event for a prize of $2 million. Notable attendees at WSOP Paradise in The Bahamas last winter included Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, and many other high rollers.
One of the most memorable moments from last year's event was Liv Boeree's performance. The former PokerStars ambassador made the final table of WSOP Paradise and won $2.8 million, which is the biggest cash ever by a female poker player. Daniel Negreanu, GGPoker ambassador, commented that the $60 million guarantee for the Super Main Event is "freaking insane!" WSOP CEO Ty Stewart added that the $60 million guarantee for the Super Main Event is a "re-raise" compared to last year's series.
A separate $25,000 buy-in hold'em event, the GGMillion$, will run with a guaranteed prize pool of $10 million. The inaugural WSOP Paradise festival in 2023 had a $15 million guarantee for a $5,000 Main Event.
With its record-breaking guarantees and high-stakes events, WSOP Paradise is set to attract some of the biggest names in poker once again. The event is shaping up to be an unmissable spectacle for poker enthusiasts and casual fans alike.
